Joining the Club

Joining Southport Surf Life Saving Club is a simple process.

  2. ONLY if transfering from another club click here to Download the Transfer Application.
  3. Fill in and sign Membership Application, and Transfer Clearance, if required.
  4. Send the completed forms with your payment to the Lifesaving Office.

 Fee Information

Family Membership - 2 Adults and 2 children (U18) or 1 Adult & 3 Children (U18). (Under 18 as at 30th

September 2010).

Gymnasium (Associate) - Additional fee for Associate members wishing to join club gym.

Key Bond - Members shall be required to pay a $20 "Bond" for a gym key.

A maximum amount of $10.00 shall be refunded to the member upon return of the key to the club.  

Note: This refund policy shall always be at the discretion of the Club.

Joining Fee - $50.00 one off joining fee for new members. Only one joining fee per family membership.

Transfer Fee - applicable to proficient SLSC members transferring to Southport from another club.
Craft Storage Fee - a fee of $10 per item of craft is charged so that you can leave your craft at the club.

Spaces are limited.

Membership Category Definitions

Probationary

Temporary category for new members obtaining an award.

Junior Activity Membership (Nipper)

Minimum age 5 years up to a maximum age of 13 years (age is determined as at midnight on 30 September).
Active Cadet

Persons 14-16 years (on or before 30 September) and shall be gaining either their Surf Rescue

Certificate/Bronze Medallion.

Active Junior/Senior

Bronze Medallion holders and shall fulfil the full patrol and Club obligations.

Reserve Active

Active Members who have satisfactorily completed (from gaining their Bronze Medallion) at least eight (8) years of

 patrol and Club obligations, as provided by the Association and Club Constitution and By-Laws Reserve active members

are required to perform a minimum of patrols.
Reserve Active membership is not automatic, it must be applied for.

Long Service

Granted by the Club to Active Members who have satisfactorily completed [from gaining their Bronze Medallion]

ten (10) years of patrol and Club obligations to the Association, or eight (8) years of patrol and Club obligations plus

four (4) years Reserve Active Service. LS Members are exempt from all patrol obligations.

Long Service membership is not automatic, it must be applied for.

Award

Persons who are proficient holders of one of the following SLSA Awards- Surf Rescue Certificate (over 15 years of age),

Radio Award(s), Resuscitation Certificate, Advanced Resuscitation Certificate or Operational First Aid Award(s).

Associate

Person who may or may not be the holder of an Association award.
